Summer Play Camps

JCPRC will hold three summer play camps again this year at Morgan’s Grove Park, Sam Michael’s Park, and Wright Denny Elementary School. These camps are for children ages 5-12. Each site is supervised by trained staff and offers a variety of recreational activities, swimming, trips and special events.

·     \ Pre-registration is required before children can attend camp. PLEASE NOTE THAT CAMP SPACE IS LIMITED AND MAY FILL UP QUICKLY. CAMP SPACE IS NOT HELD WITHOUT PAYMENT AND CANNOT BE GUARANTEED FOR PARTICIPANTS WHO PAY WEEKLY.

·       Camp is held Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Children will need to bring a packed lunch, snack and water bottle to camp each day. Please note that camp ends promptly at 4:00 p.m. There is no before or after care available.

·       ADDITIONAL FEES WILL BE COLLECTED FOR FIELD TRIPS & SPECIAL EVENTS.

·       Each child is required to purchase a T-shirt that will be worn on field trip days for an additional $10.00.

·       NO Refunds will be given after initial registration or if child is suspended from camp for any reason.

·       Fee: $80 per week. 6 WEEKS
NO CAMP WEEK OF JULY 5-9th.

Mudworks 9:30am-12:30pm For ages 6-16

This popular camp includes varied and unique hand built clay projects each day and every week, (and each summer) so there is always something new.  For returning students, more advanced projects will be presented. Everyone will work with slab, coil, and pinch techniques, plus a chance to throw a pot or two on the potters wheel. Each child should bring snack and beverage to drink daily.

 

Mud’n’Art  2:30pm-5:30pm For ages 6-16

We’ll explore a different media each day, clay, paper, wire, paint, fabric, found items, and more. Students will make individual items such as: mobiles, wall art, luminaries, paintings, garden sculptures, etc. No kits, all imagination and fun. Each child should bring snack and beverage to drink daily.

Morning Mudworks or Afternoon Mud’n’Art

Fee: $97 includes all supplies, firing, (15% discount to siblings in same camp – first child pays full amount).

Full-day fee (same week) morning Mudworks and afternoon Mud’n’Art sessions:

$175 includes all supplies (10% discount to siblings in same camp – first child pays full amount)

Animal Welfare Society “Bark in the Park” Set for May 22nd

The Animal Welfare Society of Jefferson County is having its’ 4th annual Bark in the Park fundraising event at Sam Michael’s Park on Job Corps Road, near Harpers Ferry, WV.
  The event will be on May 22nd from 11:00-3:00 with registration at 10:30. You and your best doggy pal or pals can participate in a day of fun. There will be a Blessing of the Animals, an Interactive Dog Pledge Walk, canine demonstrations, dog games, fashion show, food, vendors and canine contests.

For a doggone good time, plan to spend the day and quality time with your best friend to benefit the homeless pets at the Animal Welfare Society shelter. Registration is a $10.00 donation per dog for the event and your canine friend receives a doggy bandana.Collect pledges from friends and family to participate in the Interactive Dog Walk, similar to a walkathon, with suggested pledges beginning at $5.00 per lap. This major fundraiser for the Animal Welfare Society depends on the contributions from these pledges to help sustain the society’s animal shelter on Leetown Pike and other programs. Print the Dog Walk Pledge form and Registration form from the AWS website www.awsjc.org and start collecting pledges now.
